The idea behind this story is a good one. But the people are so stupid it just amazes me. And in what universe does a woman's land go to the step father upon her death. I know this book is old, I found it in a antique store but it is just tooooo much. I wish MS Jackson would rewrite the story with a more modern touch. I was ready to scream the last time Bethany stated "it's in my past, it has nothing to do with me, boo hoo boo hoo. The statement is made that Bethany is no "dumb bunny" but to me she comes off as exactly that. The only person I liked in this book was the dog Wilson.
